Mid-century lowboy chest of drawers from the Myer Heritage Furniture range, produced in Australia, c.1950s. Made from solid Tasmanian Myrtle, the cabinet features four spacious drawers, all of which run smoothly. Oversized sculpted timber drawer pulls and a simple base reflect the practical, well-made approach of mid-century Australian furniture designed for everyday use in the bedroom.
Produced during a period when Myer operated its own manufacturing division, including the Footscray factory in Melbourne, the Heritage Furniture line focused on locally made pieces using Australian hardwoods. This example shows the material quality and straightforward construction typical of that range.
