Mid-century furniture for the kitchen and dining room including vintage buffets, dining tables, dining chairs, sideboards and bar stools by leading Australian and Scandinavian furniture makers, as well as selected English pieces.
Vintage dining tables from Australia, Scandinavia and England
Dining tables were at the centre of mid-century dining rooms. They came in many shapes and sizes: compact drop-leaf tables and extendable dining tables with round, square, rectangular, and oblong tops. The Parker double-extension table is a well-known classic. Many Australian furniture makers worked in teak veneer, with some tables in myrtle and blackbean from Noblett, T.H. Brown, and Danish Quality Furniture (DQF). Denmark and Scandinavia produced finely made oak, teak, and rosewood extension tables. English brands G Plan and McIntosh also produced collectable dining table and sideboard ranges, with the G Plan Fresco line especially noted.
Mid-century dining chairs and Scandinavian seating design
Dining chairs in this collection include iconic Australian designs such as Parker’s Nordic and Model 107 matchstick chair, alongside designs by Danish Deluxe, TH Brown, Chiswell, Fler, and DQF. We also source Scandinavian dining chairs by Arne Vodder, Johannes Andersen, H.W. Klein (Bramin), Skovby, Henning Kjærnulf, Erik Buch, Niels Otto Møller, Kai Kristiansen, and others.
Retro bar stools for the modern home
Bar stools were a staple in mid-century dining rooms, kitchens and home bars. Some of the most recognisable examples are the TH Brown Martell and Danish bar stools which are now back in production. Parker bar stools and Gerald Easden designs are also highly collectible.
Mid-century sideboards, buffets and cocktail cabinets
Buffets and sideboards were pivotal pieces of furniture in mid-century dining rooms. In homes where the dining room and kitchen were separate, the sideboard served as free-standing storage. Sideboards and cocktail cabinets in teak veneer were common from Australian furniture makers such as Parker, Chiswell, TH Brown, and Rodd Furniture, while Scandinavian furniture makers produced buffets and highboards in rosewood, teak, and oak. Mid-century cocktail cabinets and buffets with fold-down bar compartments were also widely used.
