Shipping Policy

HOMEWARES AND SMALLS

For items such as books, small homewares and ceramics, we offer flat-rate shipping of $30.00. Shipping costs will be automatically calculated at checkout. We use Australia Post along with other trusted courier services, and a tracking number will be provided for regular shipments.

FURNITURE: OVERVIEW

1. Shipping Australia-wide from our Melbourne store

We work with a trusted network of couriers to deliver furniture across Australia. For most metro areas along the east coast, as well as Adelaide and Tasmania, shipping rates are automatically calculated at checkout. If your location isn’t covered, or no rate appears after entering your address, please contact us for a custom quote. You can also request one via Instagram. 

2. Securing your item while waiting for a shipping quote

If a shipping cost doesn’t appear after entering your address, we can arrange a custom quote for you. As some items sell quickly, we recommend selecting Local Pickup at checkout to complete payment and secure your purchase while we finalise shipping arrangements. Once confirmed, we’ll invoice the delivery cost separately. You can refer to the table below for an indication of transport pricing to different areas (these are indicative only and subject to change).

3. How we package mid-century furniture

Our local and interstate couriers specialise in the careful handling of vintage and mid-century furniture. Due to the delicate nature of many of our pieces, we take extra care in packaging, using protective materials like shrink wrap, bubble wrap, cardboard and blankets. Packing costs and materials are included in shipping price. 

4. Ground-floor delivery

The delivery cost at checkout is for ground-floor delivery. If you’d like the item carried up stairs or into an elevator etc. please inform us in advance as this may incur an additional fee. We’ll coordinate this with our courier service directly.

5. Special delivery instructions

Please notify us if there are are any special delivery instructions such as access issues, narrow streets, steep driveways or limited parking. If we arrive and are unable to complete the delivery (e.g. you're not home, nowhere safe to park), we will need to reschedule and charge an additional fee. 

6. Multiple item shipments

Our couriers calculate delivery charges based on cubic metres, so purchasing multiple items will incur additional fees. This will be automatically calculated at checkout. If you’re ordering multiple items and are unsure about the combined shipping rates please reach out to us. We’ll contact our couriers to find the best possible quote for you.

7. Delivery scheduling

Our couriers manage long routes and multiple jobs, so we are unable to accommodate specific delivery dates and time slots. However, we will do our best to meet your needs. You will receive a call 1-2 days before delivery and another call approximately one hour prior. Estimated delivery timeframes for different areas can be found in the “Rates” section below.

You must be home to receive the delivery unless other arrangements have been made. With your prior consent, our couriers can leave items in a safe location (e.g. an undercover verandah), however we are not liable for any loss or damage to items left unattended.

8. Items damaged in transit

While rare, transit damage can occur due to the delicate nature of vintage items. As we use third-party couriers for deliveries, Collectors Edit cannot be held liable for any damage that occurs during transit. However, all of our third party couriers carry insurance. If your item arrives damaged, please email us at hello@collectorsedit.com with detailed photographs of the damage and packaging. We will work with the courier to facilitate a claim. Please reach out as soon as possible so we can assist you in resolving the issue.

FURNITURE: SHIPPING RATES AND LEAD TIMES

1. Local pickup

Melbourne-based customers may select local pickup from Coburg, which is by appointment only.  

• Cost: Free

• Lead Time: Must be collected within seven days of purchase.

2. Local delivery within Melbourne Metro

Local delivery is available for Melbourne Metro areas, with easy street access and parking required. The delivery cost at checkout is for one person and ground-floor delivery. Larger pieces will require help unloading at your end. If you are unable to assist, we can arrange for a two-person delivery at an additional fee. 

• Cost: Within 20km $80-$120 / 20-50km $150-$250

• Lead Time: Within 10 days post-purchase

4. Interstate shipping + Greater Victoria

We calculate shipping rates at checkout for key locations along the East Coast, Adelaide and Hobart. We use Pedemonts for our Perth deliveries and they have a minimum charge of $450 + GST. Please contact us for other locations. 

• Cost: $180-$550, depending on destination and item size

• Lead Time: 2-3 weeks post-purchase
